1} Sylvia Hardy and Friends..... The Maine
giantess is posed in a group portrait along with General Tom
Thumb, Mercy Lavidia Warren Bump - Mrs. Thumb, unidentified
infant acting as young Thumb and P.T. Barnum . Giants were
usually grouped with little
people to exaggerate proportion.
2} Happy Jack Eckert.............. Mr. Eckert
weighed between 539 and 739 pounds. He had a waistline that
measured 87 inches and wore a size 9 shoe. This performer began
his show business career at age 10 ...265 lb..
3} Borneo Wildmen................... Hiram and
Barney Davis were the exotically costumed and tremendously strong
midgets rebaptized Plutano and Waino. The
pair were born in Connecticut or Long Island. They are grouped
with their manager.
4} Zip and Issit.......................... Mr.
Johnson ( Zip ) and Issit or Izzit were billed as the missing
links. Johnson hosted an audience of over 200 million during a
career that lasted from 1859 to 1926. Zip was supposedly captured
by an expedition in deepest Gambia. He played a small violin and
was a major midway star. Johnson was actually a native of
Brooklyn or Bridgeport. His much advertised last words, "
Well , we fooled 'em a long time."
5) Mule Face Woman................ Grace Mc
Daniels,".. didn't look like a mule , of course, more like a
hippopotamus in the face.........attractive to a lot of men I
can't tell how many proposals of marriage she received before
finally accepting a nice looking young fellow who was very much

6) Rubber Man..........................
Contortionists and living skeletons were usually grouped with the
larger "Fats" and billed as married couples.
7} Bird Girl.................................
Often appearing with a dwarf jester, she was representative of
some mythological hybrid. Koo Koo's actual name is unknown.
8} Biggest Feet...........................
Willie Camper was an attraction at the California World's Fair.
He was 8' 2" and weighed 480 pounds.
9} Largest Mouth..........................
Toured with the F.C. Bostock carnival. He could place a saucer or
fist in his mouth. (Name unknown)
